PSA: Stroke Symptoms? Act IMMEDIATELY and then some!

At elisem's request, I've refreshed my own awareness of stroke symptoms and the importance of getting to an emergency room fast, fast, fast, and I'm posting to encourage everyone reading this to do likewise.

For me, that meant reviewing Jim Macdonald's stroke notes again; reading the Mayo Clinic Health Information pages on strokes; scanning the Healthwise Knowledgebase pages just to hammer it in; and listening again to Jill Bolte Taylor's Stroke of Insight TED Talk.

Most of you will have already seen the news of Elise's Tuesday night stroke, but in case you haven't, I direct your attention to these two posts on Making Light.

Here's hoping every brain problem I hear of in 2011 ends up with the best possible outcome, just like Elise's.

Insert Witty Subject Line Here (An Update)

1) As of this afternoon, I'm home, sweet home at Toad Woods.

2) As of two nights ago, my mobile service includes texting. Not unlimited, but enough messages/month that it should be hard to run through them. Picture mail, too. Lookit me; I'm caught up all the way to the late-1990s or thereabouts.

3) Those who have seen me hobbling from time to time in recent months will be glad to read that I've finally made a doctor's appointment to get my knee(s), leg(s), and feet looked at. Especially my troublesome right knee. I anticipate some lifestyle changes ahead.

4) My overall reaction to 2011 so far? Where's the Service Counter? Only 7 days into it and I'm long past ready to exchange the year for a sturdier, less-intense model. Seriously.
