So, if I'm going to be trufen-dotted as having a weblog pointing here, I suppose I really ought to have something less moldy than a short note of bemusement from three weeks ago. Life continues faster than unpacking does. Layout of the Worldcon Souvenir Book continues more slowly than I would like, though it is a sheer, marvelous delight to work with this caliber of material, contributors, and committee members. Big Fun. Way Big Fun. Now to get it done!

As [livejournal.com profile] brithistorian noted right about the time his and Angel's laundry room was being broken into, it's also my birthday today. So far, I've have the better end of the day. Much as I hope his gets better, I also hope mine doesn't take a turn for the worse.

If all of my LJ friends were at Toad Woods today (and, well, if I were there, too), we could unpack boxes and I could find hobbit-style birthday gifts for each and every one of you. Sorry, the spiffy robot-printed potholders already found a new home with a friend (WINOLJ) who admired them while helping unpack my kitchen.

Thirty-five years ago, humankind landed on the moon and were so eager to walk out the door and onto its surface that they asked Mission Control for permission to walk right then, rather than waiting until the next day, which the schedule called for. NASA gave the go-ahead, and so it was that "one small step..." was taken July 20th rather than on my birthday as had been planned. I understand that kind of wonder and enthusiasm well enough to have forgiven them -- heck, if I'd been there myself, I woulda wanted to walk now too. So yes, I forgave them. But I've not forgotten yet, and I somehow doubt I ever will.

Happy Birthday to everyone else who shares this curious fate, and to all born on July 20th, too.

Happy birthday Geri. Oh and imagine the pressure if Victor hadn't just mentioned it but added an RSS feed.

Joyeaux anniversaire!

Totally unrelated, but in walking about the woods near Walt Whitman's birthplace yesterday, I came across a place called "Toad Pond"

Happy birthday, dear Geri. Wishing you many happy hours at Toad Woods with all your friends a-gathered. And on top of that, a nice helping of many happy hours even when you're not home and may not be presently showered with the company of many friends.

We're always with you in our hearts and our hopes for your happiness.

Today is your day!

Have a lovely one.

happy birthday!

i had a dream the other night that involved you-- i was at a worldcon, and found stickers. mpls in 73 blimps, penguins, and little groups of balloons. i decided that penguins were still how many minicons a person had been to and little groups of balloons were how many worldcons a person had been to. and i thought "yay! geri's here!" because you must have been the one who brought the stickers, after all. (sadly, i won't be in boston, so no chance for this to happen in real life this year...)

Happy birthday!

And let me take a moment to let you know what a real pleasure it was to work with you on ConJose. You were one of the brightest spots on that committee, and with the caliber of folks we had, that's saying something.

Happy, happy birthday! I think just missing the moonwalk beats the heck out of just missing the day your sweetie breaks his leg, any year.
