Okay, the Treadmill Doctor might well be a good review source. Their review of my elliptical is certainly spot on:

Review Comments: The Proform C 630 is a small, compact, and ultimately useless piece of equipment. If you pay for this machine you are wasting your money."

Well, it held up long enough for me to actually get in the exercise habit. That's something. Just not enough.

Good perspective. Thanks! The first one cost about the same as one or two sets of classes would have, only I probably never would have gotten around to taking them.

I used the "starter model" approach with digital photography, buying an adequate, low-cost camera to see if it "took". (This less than a decade after spending big bucks on a little-used 35mm film Nikon SLR.) Yes, it took, and I'd now love the spare cash to pick up a digital SLR. But that's not nearly as important as the exercise equipment.
