For those of you who noticed that extra big smile on my face on Sunday of Lunacon, I can now reveal the source of my added wattage that day: Science-Fiction Five-Yearly has been nominated for a Hugo in the Best Fanzine category!

The ballots are in the mail, and the nominees are online thanks to Making Light.

fringefaan and I are delighted by SFFY's nomination. We thank the nominators as well as the writers and artists who collaborated with us last year. We also deeply appreciated the Hugo Administrator's understanding of just how the nomination news would hit us. Joyce Hooper's notification letter began:

] nominating ballots and I am very pleased to tell you that you that Science-Fiction
] Five-Yearly has been nominated in the Best Fanzine category.

Yes, it's bittersweet, indeed. My reading is that LeeH would have been utterly croggled by the news, and deeply pleased, too. fringefaan and I certainly are!

Many thanks for the congratulations already in from tnh, lauriemann, debgeisler, and smofbabe. I send my own congratulations to the truly fine company SFFY is in on the entire Hugo ballot and especially to our fellow fanzine nominees: fishlifter for Banana Wings, Guy Lillian, III for Challenger, johnnyeponymous for The Drink Tank, and the entire cabal --drplokta, flickgc, bohemiancoast, malwen, miramon, eleyan, and frostfox for PLOKTA.

A very limited number of copies of Science-Fiction Five-Yearly are available upon request -- we're down to a couple dozen remaining. Fortunately, SFFY is also online at eFanzines.com and at the FANAC website. In addition to PDFs I've made, jcbemis scanned and typed all of the issues archived on the FANAC site.

It is an honor, such an honor, to be nominated. Big fun, too!

I will endeavor to hand a copy to your best beloved in the morning, and all at the table will endeavor to keep it away from the maple syrup. I'm surprised that I didn't mail one to you -- I wouldn't have dropped you, so it's perhaps that you were among those who picked up the last issue at the collation.
