'Tis The Season
Mar. 23rd, 2007 04:11 pmI'm only slightly weirded out by Green Peeps, but the notion and reality of sugar-free Peeps just made my head explode.
Yes, sugar-free Peeps. Sweetened with Splenda. I hope they're better than the Splenda-sweetened Diet Coke. I wanted so much to like that. But what of the sugar-coating? What of the sugary essence of thee Peep itself? The idea of sugar-free Peeps isn't as wrong as the Kosher for Passover Easter bunnies and temporary tattoos of Jewish symbols, but it comes close.
We live in a weird, weird world.
That, and I really couldn't tell you why I find the green Peeps to be far more a novelty, and a strange one at that, than I did the blue and purple Peeps when they were introduced. Maybe it's just that Peeps shouldn't be the color of grass.
You can see for yourself at the Peeps website. You'll have to click through for the whole listing of their Easter products.
There's of course also the ever-popular Peeps Research. Thanks to their Solubility Studies, I learned that "given enough time, the proper resources, and access to some really toxic stuff, one can probably dissolve just about anything except Peep eyes."

Date: 2007-03-23 08:54 pm (UTC)And of course you don't want green Peeps; you'll lose them in the green Easter grass in the basket. (And don't tell me that people nowadays use Easter grass in colors other than green, because that's just wrong.)
