Still in the annoying range, rather than anything really wrong, the CD changer in my car is jammed and won't play any music. I suspect the problem stems from the paper labels on the CDs I burned of the "Music for Mom" set from last February. Grrr.

I still have most of 300 miles to go. The PEZboy MP3 player doesn't seem to be in my computer bag, and I'd probably avoid using it anyway -- I prefer to keep my ears at least somewhat tuned into the real world as well as the music I'm playing while driving.

Oh, yeah, and last night's weirdness included a loose headlight. So far, it stays on once it comes on, but it takes a whack on the housing to get it to come on.

Good thing I have a car service appointment in the morning. Now if I can only get myself within range to keep it.

Onward....

The headlight which comes on when you bang it may not be loose - the last time that this happened to me, the light was failing and needed to be replaced.

Good luck for the rest of your trip!

You were spot on -- the light bulb needed replacing. Which explains why jiggling the wires and doing my best to make sure all the connections were tight didn't help. I am impressed with a failure mode that keeps the light working for a few more days, albeit in a manner that constantly reminds the driver of the need to have the thing fixed. This is especially useful on a car headlight!
