"I'll take 'Things You Don't Expect to See in the Road While Driving Down a Texas Highway' for $1,600, Alex"....

CNN International is reporting about a truck that overturned while en route to Galveston, Texas on Tuesday. The truck was carrying wildlife to a temporary home while their habitat at the Indianapolis Zoo is being remodeled.

Which is how it came to be that motorists hit and killed three penguins while driving in Texas. A fourth penguin and some exotic fish were also killed in the accident. The good news is that 21 other penguins stayed together in a ditch and were rescued, as was an octopus.

Penguins. Loose on the freeway. Not what you'd expect. Anytime, really.

Sorry as I am for the penguins, and for the drivers, they've got a story trump card for the rest of their lives. Other people start talking about the time they hit an armadillo, a deer, a bear, a moose, and they can pipe up about the time they were driving down the highway and hit a penguin. In Texas. "No shit, there I was...."

Wonder what I'll see while driving down the Mass Pike Wednesday....

One time when rwl was coming home from work on the interstate in TN, he almost hit a sofa. It was there in the middle of the lane, probably fell off a truck. The guy behind him wasn't as quick and plowed into it. I don't know what happened as we never heard about it on the news, but it must have been an interesting accident report - hit a sofa. "Hey, I honked my horn, but the sofa wouldn't move!"
