Wait a minute!
Apr. 17th, 2006 09:51 pmBritish conventions have a tradition of drinking the hotel bar dry. At last year's Worldcon, fans set a new record -- they drank the brewery dry. Yes, they were proud. I only regret that I wasn't there to help.
But surely Glasgow has recovered by now. Or so I thought until Tweeting Birds #9 reported that the members of Concussion, this year's Eastercon, ate the hotel out of...butter.
And ketchup, too, apparently. For the 4-part harmony on the ketchup and other news from Concussion, see the the full run of Tweeting Birds.

Date: 2006-04-18 02:12 am (UTC)That's overstating things slightly.
We drank the brewery dry of a three-week supply of Kilburn "Dark Moor." All that was left in Glasgow was what had been already delivered to other pubs. I believe we drank the Goat House out of 4 of the remaining 5 Kilburn Ales, and we may have drunk them dry of all of them. When I left, there was still a few casks of "Goldi-hops" on the rack.

Date: 2006-04-18 08:39 am (UTC)If they'd done the beer festival thing of having 2l plastic bottles available, it's quite possible they'd have finished what they had, but that could have backfired. As it was, there were still folk left who wanted to buy beer at closing time, but by then you needed a room key and not just a con badge....
