Happy 87th birthday to the wonderfully incomparable don_fitch! As we begin this month of giving thanks, I send thanks and glee to the universe and fandom for bringing you into my life a few decades back, and to you for adding so much delight to it through your friendship, sensibilities, and skills with a slip-sheeter. And so much more, oh, so much more.

Know that your 88th year spinning ’round the sun starts with as much love as I can possibly send through the electrons, with equal measures of respect and admiration accompanying it.

Thanks, Geri -- this means much as I begin nibbling away at my 88th year.

The past year, spent mostly in divesting myself of memory-soaked Stuph from the past 87 years (literally -- the pair of bronzed baby-booties, and the advetisement addressed to "Baby Fitch" touting the benefits of Coca-Cola for teething and plumpness), and especailly the fanzine treasures of more recent years (some of which found Good Homes and some of which ... didn't). The thousands of books will (if all goes well) reach the West Covina Public Library's Sales tables. It's been a most stressful year (just when stress is the very last thing I need), but January should see me settled in an elder-care facility ... just a single room, with space for almost nothing but needed clothing ... and a largish Computer, on WiFi! Why, the new computer might even enable me to proofread, and to communicate with FaceBook (which doesn't speak with my current software).

No, I don't expect to _like_ the Change, but can probably put up with it reasonably well, and it will certainly have some interesting aspects.

Happy birthday, Don! 88 is an auspicious number in my book because I've always liked the number 8 for some reason. So double 8, woo hoo! I hope it's a fabulous year.

So sorry about the stress and difficulty of dealing with stuff, and for the circumstances requiring it. I hope the wifi access will be a small compensation. I look forward to hearing more from you.

Big changes! I know you've been planning this for awhile now, but it sounds like preparations kicked into high gear this past year.

Love the Coca-Cola ad sent to Baby Fitch! Imagine the backlash if they were to send such mailings today, especially the part about "plumpness."

Sorry about the stress of it all, and the limited space at your new place. Eep. Huzzah for the largish computer and especially WiFi. We really do need to get in the habit of Skyping each other.

In the meanwhile, enjoy the rest of your birthday. I hope the day includes a piece of yummy cake or other indulgence you find fitting for the occasion.
