Carols, Hopes, & Wishes
Dec. 19th, 2013 07:07 amI just listened to John Denver & The Muppets: A Christmas Together for the first time this season. Track 11 starts out with the tale of "Alfie, the Christmas Tree" and segues into what's just turned into my personal carol, hope, & wish this year for a certain list of fans who help organize and run science fiction conventions:
"It's in every one of us to be wise
Find your heart, open up both your eyes.
We can all know everything without ever knowing why.
It's in every one of us by and by."
And Track 10 carries a Christmas wish from me to everyone, including the members of said list. (Note: belief in Christmas not required.)
I've been listening to this album since it was first released in 1979; it remains a charming delight and one of my annual favorites. While more traditionally representative of the genre, "We Wish You A Merry Christmas" is full of Muppety Goodness (and bacon).
