We're in the middle of another 4-6 inches of frozen, white, powdery stuff fallng from the sky. I was out and about driving through the stuff most of the afternoon. Until today, I loved snow tires for the way they ease my trip up my driveway in winter. That, and the fact that we had next to no snow at all the first winter I had them. I'd pay $600 every winter for that benefit. It'd be significantly cheaper than plowing is.

Anyway, this M-state girl drove for decades through Michigan and Minnesota winters without ever having snow tires. I'm of course now wondering why. They're wonderful! Not only can I get up my driveway with ease before Plow Guy clears it, but the Cardis was utterly wonderful on all 60 miles of crappy, snow'n'ice covered roads this very day.

My family used to use them before tires got better(in Ohio). They were also not so good on dry roads and wore out fast. Are they a lot better now?
