I have a new trick for catching Jinx. It might have been a one-time trick, but, hey, she now has hairball remedy in her.

I didn't even know there was a phone trick. But there I was, sitting at my desk and talking on the phone. Jinx came by, meowing for attention and a pet. One stroke and grab! Fortunately, I'd already relayed the fact that I'd been trying to catch the cat for 4 hours this morning, so once I had her, I could proclaim, "I've got the cat! Bye!" Tore off the headset without losing the cat. Remembered where the hairball stuff was. Applied it to her front paws and and let her go. Watched her lick it off. Win

For this week, anyway.

You could also try some salmon oil on the food... our local pet supply had one, and it was popular for a while.

Hairballs. Feh.

Thanks! I saw salmon oil with some rosemary in it among the cat stuff at the grocery store this afternoon, but held off on buying it until I learned a bit more about it since I'd never seen it before.

I would expect the cat to react negatively to the rosemary, actually.

My cat keeps on figuring out her pilling routine. Whatever I try works for a month, or maybe a week, then I have to think about something new. She totally avoided her pill this morning because I was too tired to track her down.

Cats. Why did it have to be cats?

IME, the thing with cats is that if a cat doesn't want to be caught, it can be caught once or twice. Since you don't endear yourself to the cat by doing so, it's not a long-term plan.

I like the salmon oil idea. Alternatively, you can reward the cat after each catch. Try the various treats. Try the anti-hairball treats. Try different grain-free wet foods. So long as the cat isn't on a low protein diet, you have many options.
