A comment I've seen on many Facebook statuses (statii?) the last few weeks: "Go home, Winter. You're drunk."

I am happy to report yesterday's snow is gone from Winnipeg. I haven't heard how Dauphin fared though. IIRC they were supposed to get 8" as well.

I was supposed to drive to Mpls on Wednesday and leave Thursday, but it was clear that I'd end up diving through snow in both directions.

In my little sports car. At 85 mph. Without my snow tires.

As such I realized that the mature, responsible, and prudent thing to do would be to cancel the trip -- but I canceled it anyway.

Actually, after all those weather alerts Minneapolis got no snow at all. Okay, a little bit of "fluffy rain" that melted before it hit the ground, but nothing white on the ground.

However, it may well have snowed somewhere between here and wherever it was that you would have been driving from in your cute little sports car. The weather radar on my iPhone showed a river of pale blue flowing from Colorado across Iowa and up the eastern side of the metro area.

There wasn't much accumulation at all here in the inner city of Minneapolis. Mostly the snowflakes melted when they touched down. I can't imagine the bushes and deciduous trees were all that happy about it, but hey it's water, and clean(er) air, so maybe we'll get some May flowers later as well as renewed creeks, lakes, reservoirs and aquifers out of it. Here's hoping!
