This is more of a placeholder than anything else. As I mentioned in a reply elsewhere, weekday house showings have picked up considerably in the last couple of days. I'm pleased.

Apart from that, I'm still enjoying living in what one of my clients called "the perfect house." There are no dirty dishes on the counter, or anything else, actually. The bed is reasonably neatly made each morning, mail is more thoroughly dealt with rather than any of the deitrus being allowed to accumulate on the dining table. Other flat surfaces (outside my attic office) also remain clear. There's usually fresh-baked bread to be enjoyed. It's all rather novel, and I find myself pondering how long it might take for the habit to "take." Past experience suggests three weeks, though I'm certain that it wouldn't then take three weeks of laziness/other busyness to lapse back into my usual pattern.

Other showing is scheduled for something under 8 hours from now, so I'll wrap up this placeholder for tonight and hope to be back soon with more good news.

Three weeks is actually the precise time frame I've been taught that it takes a new behavior to become a habit. Not sure where that number came from, but it was used in the training Franklin Covey gave for their planning calendars/software.

Are you going to have a giant (or at least a music) party there one last time before you leave it? Sniffle.

Absobloominlutely! We need to cool this house with a party to help remember all the other parties by. And that most certainly means a music party as well as having the place jam-packed with friends.

I've already packed photos, broken strings, and other Toad Hall party memorabilia I might have longed to display, but I can still lay my hands on original flyers from the Toad Hall Housewarming party in 1983. Kathy Marschall artwork accompanied Jan Appelbaum's and my invitation to celebrate the retaking of Toad Hall from the weasels. So that'll be featured somehow. And there's more room for people thanks to the decluttering that's already happened.

Scheduling still very much TBD, of course. Before closing, obviously. Before I've packed so much that the house doesn't have chairs to sit on or tables to put food out on. But there's already most of one Rubbermaid Tote of house-cooling party supplies (yeah! one less things to move!), and I expect there will be more by the time the party rolls around.

So now you get to sniffle about probably missing it, eh? Maybe? How long are you in Venice and environs for?

Your house has always looked so gorgeous, I can't see a sale taking longer than usual. And mind you, I was last there in 1997? (Collating Idea at Not-a-ReinCONation).

Obviously, I've missed a lot of news. Where are you going? If nothing else, will you post a COA (friends only) here or in Ansible?

I'm heading east. Massachusetts, most likely, though perhaps Connecticut. Yes, I plan to spread my COA far and wide. When I have something resembling a permanent address, anyway. Things could be in flux for awhile between closings here and there. It all depends on what I know, and especially when.

In Ansible, for sure. I've used its COA announcements to update my own mailing lists for years.

I've "friend'ed" you

Hi Geri,

Just ran into your LJ username and added you to my "friends" list so I can read what you post. It was nice to see you at the Renfair and know you had your shoes back. :) I hope you are successful in a quick sale for Toad Hall. Many hugs.

Dave
