I'm not quite sure what you mean about the "future of filk". One of the wonderful things about the web is the DIY democracy. Good is good, with no regard to age, station, or previous track record. Hard work and brilliant flashes of wit each have their place in the public's regard. (Something like this is about the only good thing I have to say for rap.) While not being any sort of direct offshoot or descendant, it's one of the most important parts of the fannish ethos, imnsho.
