Last night, I wrote:
Over the weekend, as things started melting, I started a path along the side of the garage back toward the propane tanks and oil fill spout behind the house. Looks like I'd better finish the first pass on that before the snow starts falling again.
This morning, I finished the path, and widened the part I'd shoveled before. Fewer than 15 minutes passed; there was no time for new moons, or buffalo crossing great prairies. The Squier Oil Truck rumbled down my driveway. The driver appreciated the path; I felt like a good citizen and homeowner, and was really pleased to boot.
The driver also thanked me for keeping the driveway in such good shape. "I've got the best plowguy," I responded. "Terry O'Keefe is doing a great job."
He's known Terry for years. Of course. Yep, agrees; Terry's great.
The lasting benefit is that I can now take my time shoveling back to the fill pipe after tomorrow's storm. Odds are better than reasonable that the sun will melt it all before they need to fill the tank again.
Fingers crossed, knocking wood, and All That Jazz….
