Giving thanks

From all reports, it appears that my Mipple-Stipple friends are safe and sound in their homes tonight. The tornado that touched down in Fannish South Minneapolis appears to have missed all of them.

The tornado's path reminded me of the one in 1981 that uprooted trees all across south Minneapolis and attempted to shove a neighbor's garage through the back door of Bob Hunter's house on 32nd Street near 4th Ave S.

Update: A comment below indicates there was property damage at one fannish household. I don't know any more than that at this point.

Though I hear that it appears to have damaged the property of one South Minneapolis resident fan. So, you either didn't know that, or don't consider the person a friend. I'll stop talking now.

Gracious. I hope I am never so rude as to use any such occasion to differentiate between people I am friends with and people I am not. I'd been reading various LJ posts and comments throughout the evening and didn't notice any reports of damages. I hope the property damage is easily repaired for whomever it was.

I suspect the folks in question are friends that you don't know yet; they arrived on the scene after you moved away.

I remember the 1981 tornado: my family was away for the weekend and came home to find our roof was half gone and the HUGE boulevard tree next door was lying in the neighbor's yard. We kids had a fabulous time crawling all over it for a few days until the "tree people" came and took it away.
