You're right -- I know each of them, though less well than I would like. ConQuesT 41 should help with that. The bottom line is that in addition to admiring their work, I always look forward to seeing them whenever the opportunity presents itself.

I know nothing about ConQuest (and I do mean nothing -- not the date, place, theme, or who might be on the con committee) but this sounds like marvelous good news, and quite likely the other people congratulating you know far more about it than I do. So -- congratulations, and please keep us posted.

ConQuesT is held on Memorial Day weekend in Kansas City. I had the pleasure of attending ConQuesT 38 in 2007 and was going to be there this year until my gallbladder made it clear that I'd best stay here on the East Coast instead. So far, it's spent the weekend reminding me I made the right decision. (Dammit.)

I'm very happy to know I'll be there next year, and utterly honored, too. Think friendly, Midwest convention with some folks you know from Minicon and Minneapolis fandom but rarely see these days 'cause they've moved out of town or don't get too Minneapolis very often any more, and lots of other friendly folks who tend to stay close to home down there. Then there are the traveling fans who enjoy ConQuesT, and several of the locals I had the pleasure of becoming friends with while they were working on their Worldcon bids and enjoy seeing whenever the opportunity presents itself.

Geri, at closing ceremonies (where I presented this year's GoH John Scalzi with a Mo's Bacon Bar to go with the Bacon Explosion I smoked for him* for opening ceremonies), it was announced that ConQuesT 41's special guest will be Pete Abrams, of Sluggy Freelance fame.
