Six more inches today rather than the 1-3 inches forecast. Oh, joy. I've done my bit of shoveling and recovered from the workout. Whew.

No Plow Guy yet. He's probably waiting until after the freezing rain and ice, which is fine by me. As I said over on one of the NESFA lists, the only road I'm traveling on today is the Information Superhighway.

I'm deep in work on The Annals of Improbable Research and am hoping to turn my attention to a bit of cookie baking and related seasonal cheer later this afternoon. Maybe some cards, maybe some decorating. Time will tell. For the time being, Christmas music will do.

It's well below freezing. So how come teeny crystals of ice are falling from the sky rather than snow? The stuff is the barest step below freezing rain. Tiny, crystal-clear diamond sparkles mixed in with the smallest flakes of white. Or should I saw the flakes are mixed in with the sparkles? 'Cause it's mostly sparkles out there.

Yep, I moved here all right. Then again, Oregon had a volcano spewing ash the very same year I moved east.

Holiday musings to follow.

While more PROmote work awaits my attention, I made my way through enough of it this afternoon to indulge in a bit of relaxation tonight. A chilly visit to the Flamingo Loft yielded my existing stock of Christmas cards and enough decorations to add a light, festive flair to my surroundings. I haven't decided yet whether or not I'll put up the rope light palm tree that served so well a couple of years back, nor if I'll retrieve ornaments or additional decorations from the loft. I have my sock to hang on my bedroom door -- that's the part I simply couldn't do without this year. Could that be due to the fact that it's the same sock that shows up in a Christmas picture taken when I was five months old? Yeah, could be.

I have a curiously delicate, resilient, and utterly selfish way of dealing with Christmas. And what do you mean by that, Geri? )

Interrupt for a few more hours of work, resulting in the remarkably welcome Dreamweaver message: "Validation: "No errors or warnings found. [XHTML 1.0 strict]" Sweet!

Holiday thoughts and plans (continued) )

Yay! Plow Guy arrived at 1:05am. Any bets on whether driveway will still be clear come morning?
