It's well below freezing. So how come teeny crystals of ice are falling from the sky rather than snow? The stuff is the barest step below freezing rain. Tiny, crystal-clear diamond sparkles mixed in with the smallest flakes of white. Or should I saw the flakes are mixed in with the sparkles? 'Cause it's mostly sparkles out there.

Yep, I moved here all right. Then again, Oregon had a volcano spewing ash the very same year I moved east.

Holiday musings to follow.

Brrrr! I don't miss those fun snow times. If I want snow, by gummies, I'll go to the snow deliberately. I hope it won't come to me. I have lived through Montana winters, and Seattle teflon snow. No more!
Oregon had a volcano spew? I only know of Mount St. Helen, which is in Washington. Unfortunately, eastern Washington, Oregon, Idaho, and Montana got most of the ash. I have a very strange story about that time, as I was teaching in northeastern Montana at the time.

Bundle up, and stay warm! Take care! Take your vitamins, and the upside, drink hot cocoa!!!

Warm air above the surface -- it's misting, not snowing, then it hits the cold air advecting in from the north, and freezes. As the upper air layers cool, it'll transition to snow.

Thanks! That even makes sense.

It's all cold now. Cold and windy. Noisy enough on the wind front that I hear it over the stereo.

Yep. Winter.
