Tuesday night update: MSP, not Evanston
Dec. 22nd, 2008 10:04 pmI'm staying over in Minneapolis for an extra day, so will miss the Tuesday night dinner and music at the Celtic Knot in Evanston I had planned. Then again, by staying over, I should also miss 400 miles of driving through snow, the sleet and freezing rain forecast for Chicago Tuesday night that probably would have persuaded me that Evanston was out of the picture anyway. And I'll get a new windshield to boot!
The brutal cold here in Minneapolis turned a rock ding into an across the windshield crack on Saturday night. I'm just as glad to get it fixed before driving another 1,500 miles. The crack itself is low enough that it doesn't interfere noticeably with visibility, but who knows what direction it would decide to crack next?
So. That's the plan. Sorry,

Date: 2008-12-23 05:55 am (UTC)I hadn't heard anything like the threat of 12 inches tomorrow. Even 4 inches will be a pain considering the rest of the mess the last week hath wrought. Fingers crossed for everyone in the entire Chicago area...and the rest of the darned country, too.

Date: 2008-12-23 10:51 am (UTC)On the other hand I wanted to drive to Madison on Wednesday, and I ain't going to do it in the now. Which means I won't see... well, you know who's there.
Ma'am, as much as I'll be disappointed not to see you, I very much condone your actions in exercising the better part of valor and driving safely.
It's just before 5 AM as I write this (I overslept a little). It's snowing... vigorously...
