Deb beat me to it...
Sep. 21st, 2008 09:05 pmTo see what I've unexpectedly been up to this weekend, head on over to
debgeisler's LJ for her post about our trip to The Big E. (aka "A Fair to Remember.")
Come back after reading Deb's write-up for a bit of .
-- The movie was the Coen Brothers "Burn After Reading." Very Coen Brothers, very fun in that "thank ghod I don't know any of these people" sort of way. Recommended.
-- The coffee came from the Dunkie after my own coffee maker betrayed me. Fresh ground beans in the filter, water in the reservoir, plugged in, power on, light lit...and no coffee. It smelled so good, and didn't deliver on so much as a drip of its promise.
-- None of us thought (or at least said) "They look like an Oreo Cookie" when we saw the Belted Galloways. I thought they looked like they were wearing pig's coats.
-- The Big E is severely lacking in food-on-a-stick and the enormous butter sculpture, while charming, wasn't nearly as gonzo as the Brahma Bull on an Indian Motorcycle that I imprinted on in 2005 during my first trip to the Big E in 2005 with
kip_w,
malibrarian and the irrepressible Sarah W.
-- Jim Victor is the Big E butter sculptor. Scroll down -- he's done more than one cow on a motorcycle. And lots of other curious things, too.
-- A kid invited me to pet his cow. I did. I think it's the first time I've ever touched a live cow. The cow seemed to like the attention. That was a win.
-- Saturday/Sunday attendance figures for last weekend were 68,998 and 38,757 respectively. This Saturday's attendance that didn't include us was 150,889. No wonder traffic was backed up for miles. I look forward to checking back and seeing how many people attended today. By the last couple of hours we were there, pretty much everything was super-crowded.
-- Deb and Mike are great company. Always.

Date: 2008-09-22 02:49 am (UTC)As for the script, I loved how the various story elements were interwoven, how questions that I had during the action were later answered, such as who left the CD in the woman's locker room in the first place.
