Wales is under a weather advisory I don't remember ever seeing anywhere I lived before. There's a fire weather watch Thursday morning through afternoon.

Yes, I'm used to the whole forest fire danger levels, but it's always been phrased specifically as forest fires. (Okay, yes, I do live in a forest.....)

But I don't remember ever seeing or hearing of a fire weather watch. I probably just don't follow weather alerts that closely, but it seems like this is something that belongs in California or someplace else where there's an annual fire season. Nope, if this map is anything to go on, fire weather watches and red flag warnings are apparently common nationwide.

I'm glad my particular woods lean heavily toward the wetland end of the spectrum.

We've got heavy weather coming in from the west tonight. The midwest radar looks pretty awesome right now!

I saw that too. For half a minute I was thinking, "They've got those in the UK too now?" Still need to wake up.

They've started doing that here: actually listing the fire levels when they are high on the weather web-sites. We had a horrible wild-land fire south of here last week.

The last time we had fires starting in April was the year of the Hayman Fire. During the worst of it, I took the backyard horses to my trainer's place, and was taking the dogs and cat over every day on my way to work.

I love living in Colorado a mile from a National Forest, but it has its downside.

We have had fires already.
Mitch was out on the Bicycle on Sunday when came upon a little wild fire. (about 2 acres)
The fire people were on the job and the News were just getting there when he arrived.
