Everyone in the Twin Cities, and especially those here at Applecon, can thank me for the sight of brown and green grass, wet but clear pavement, and the delightfully small number of tiny piles of lumpy snow leavings that can be occasionally seen scattered about.

I brought my boots, thereby ensuring I wouldn't need them, which means nobody else needs theirs, either.

Yay! I'm at Applecon and the snow isn't!

I'm here thanks to a delightfully considerate (if somewhat strange) anniversary prezzie. I wouldn't be here otherwise -- much though I wanted to come, I knew back in December or so that I simply wasn't going to be able to make it.

It's amazing how that works. Late last summer, fed up with the repeated loss of electricity due to summer storms and an overburdened electrical grid, I bought a few LED, battered powered lanterns that produce enough light by which to read.

Haven't lost power since.
