Hey, [livejournal.com profile] smofbabe, and everyone else who enjoyed my fabulous $33 (or $8, post-surprise account credit) dress....

Just so you know, Macy's sale dresses don't always measure up to that one in price OR attractiveness, let alone in both.

Today's evidence of that is this dress from their current online markdown rack.

Take a look, if you dare. Be warned: I find it hideous. Painfully hideous. I wouldn't buy it for $8, let alone for $108. And even though it has some lovely blues in it, I'm utterly certain [livejournal.com profile] debgeisler wouldn't, either.

(Unless it came in browns and she was picking it up as a joke to supposedly go with Those Shoes But even she wouldn't go that far....)

...if'n yer gonna wear that, you may as well head straight for the muu-muu department...

No, no. I have an authentic Hilo Hattie muu-muu, and it's MUCH prettier than that.

...which is exactly my point. ;-)

$108 for that? Good grief! I saw a top much like that in Dress Barn yesterday for $29.95. Pair it with some black pants and your done.

Some things were mistakes in the 70's. They're no less mistaken 30+ years later. I've seen what's available currently in the women's departments and Lane Bryant. I'll wait at least til next year to buy clothes again, thanks!

Ow, my eyes! Another (failed) attempt to bring back the '60's without quite getting the idea.

I remember patterns like that during the "mod" era, but on a tunic top or minidress, not a knee-length muu muu!

I actually like the pattern (although I probably wouldn't wear it), but what an incredibly unflattering silhouette!

Wow - 1970s imitation design *and* polyester/spandex, too! Nostalgia isn't always a good thing :->

If it were a shirt, I have a couple of ties that would work with it (for my values of work). But, um, damn.

Not just ugly, not just polyester and spandex, but they say DRY CLEAN as well! Who would buy that? I'll bet it doesn't even have decent pockets.

Oh dear. I shall line up with the loyal opposition and say that I really liked it.
