[livejournal.com profile] hazelchaz asked this question down in the comments of a previous post, but I figured I'd answer it up here for all to see.

Yes, you can donate via Paypal. Chris Tregenza created and linked the Alzheimer's donation tip jar to the minty-fresh Match It For Pratchett website. Donations (less Paypal fees) go to the Alzheimer's Research Trust in the United Kingdom. There's already $1,000 in the jar...and plenty of room for more. :-)

The website also has a Guide to Giving with links to Alzheimer's organizations in the US, Australia, and France.

On Monday, [livejournal.com profile] fastfwd received an update from Andrew Scheuber at Alzheimer's Research Trust, Here's an excerpt from Andrew's report:

"As promised, here’s the total value of donations to the Alzheimer’s Research Trust thanks to the Match it for Pratchett campaign so far:

"£29,286.15 from 688 donations

"This is tremendous news. We’re so excited about the way this campaign has grown. It’s non-stop right now in the Trust’s offices."

That's from just the first couple of days. Huzzah! There's more to come...lots more. Bidding on Once More with Footnotes topped $400 today. Other unique fundraisers are in the works.

Amazing. And really, really good.

are you going to be at minicon? it occurs to me that there might be a collection bin there. by which i mean that if no one else has wrapped a shoebox with construction paper and written match it for pratchett on it yet and marked it to bring to the con, i probably can.

Alas, I'm not going to be at Minicon this year, but I think having a collection bin there is a great idea! I've heard and seen a bit about some of the Match It For Pratchett fundraising planned for Eastercon, and I always love it when there's synergy and shared activities between the various Easter weekend conventions. Besides, there's the former GoH link and everything....

So, yeah, wrap that shoebox!

I made a batch of small postcards that I'll have at the con sales table for people to take with them, but a box where people can just drop donations would be great. I'm sitting with a moneybox for t-shirts, so if you want to leave it with me when you're not walking around, that's fine. I'll be there tomorrow.

Amazing is the word! (Although I wish the T-shirt was of the Toymaker logo rather than the turtle... :-> ) We're a talented and industrious bunch when we get inspired about something.

And who knows how much in direct donations to the US and UK foundations, inspired by the campaign.

We should remind folks in the US that many employers match donations to various charities -- including the Alzheimer's Association.
