There's a small, gruesome story over on CNN International. It appears a man in Quorn, England, died by hanging himself in his bedroom closet. Auto-erotic asphyxiation or suicide, I'd guess, though the story only says that the death was not being treated as suspicious. House hunters viewing the property found the body.

Eeewww! Not only would that put me right off that house, it'd leave me downright twitchy about the entire house hunt. It'd make a great fanzine article, though.

In other news, my persistent money problems are over! I just received email notifying me that I've won the sum of GBP 2,500,000.00 POUNDS in the Microsoft Email Award Promo....

Yeah, right. Never mind. Back to the salt mines!

How on earth can you put a house on the market and *miss* a dead body?

OK, maybe my experience is unusual, but I have generally found that before you put a house on the market, you:

1) Take out everything of emotional or sentimental value.
2) Remove anything that smells.

I believe that the corpse of a relative would generally fall under (at least) one of those two categories.

Grin. True enough. But it was the homeowner's body, not one of his relatives. I lived in Toad Hall for 2.5 months while it was on the market. If I'd died at home during that time, my body could have been found by house hunters, too.

And on that cheery note....

(I'm glad I didn't miss the house cooling party. It was a doozy.)
