...I'd choose sleep over fame right now. Unless that fame came from discovering a way to turn 15 minutes into the 15 days I really wish I had in my hip pocket 'cause I sure could use it between now and next Wednesday.

I didn't let simple facts or preferences stop me from returning last night's call from a reporter for the Springfield Republican wanting to talk with me about winning a Hugo. He'd done enough homework to know that fanzines go back a long way, and we had a chatty, pleasant conversation. Don't know how much will end up in print, but I enjoyed talking with him and followed up our call with several links to topics we'd discussed. [livejournal.com profile] fringefaan, I pointed him at the articles about you in the two UW publications.

Near the end of the conversation, the reporter told me about another story he covered here in Wales this past August. It seems there's a LARPer from eastern Massachusetts who was buying property here in Wales. He intends to open a camp and run a LARP on summer weekends. He apparently presented his building plans and such to the town's planning board in June -- the reporter said some people weren't any too pleased by the notion, but IIUC, the whole thing was approved. I'm not a LARPer myself, but I'd be pleased and amused to have more like-minded folks around. The guy appears to have a good deal of experience under his belt -- he created Aralis a few years back. It sounds like Aralis2 is going strong, and that there are already at least a couple of LARP camps scattered around Massachusetts. Neat.

[livejournal.com profile] judith_dascoyne or anybody else here, have you ever heard of Aralis or know David S. Chapin? Color me curious....

If the Hugo story appears, it should be on a Wednesday, in a community section The Republican publishes weekly. The reporter said he'd let me know when it runs. And I'll do likewise here.

If they run the photo I sent, [livejournal.com profile] benveniste will have another print credit to his name.
