My kind of mail call
Oct. 16th, 2007 01:57 amI always like stopping by the Wales post office, but it's going to be a good, long while before I enjoy doing so anywhere near as much as I did on Monday afternoon. While I was in New York, not only did two very welcome, much-needed checks arrive, so did the much-anticipated, eagerly-awaited box containing the Ultraman Hugo trophy from Japan!
Ultraman and the rocket are getting a quick immersion course in life at Toad Woods. First, they waited in the friendly post office for the rest of the weekend, thankful that I was only away for a few days. Monday afternoon, it was out of the box to the welcome cheers, oohs and ahhs by the postal employees and townspeople, then back into the box, a short trip down the road, out of the box, an introduction to 15 fellow Japanese Ultramen in the form of mini-PEZ dispensers, a quiet afternoon when that redhead who seems to live here disappeared for a few hours then returned with a new haircut and that same smile on her face. Snap, snap photo op followed by more time settling into their new home in my office. What will they think tomorrow when it's back into the box for a trip over to Middleton and the NESFA clubhouse in Somerville?
