Quasicoatl and Sofa!
Quasicoatl and Sofa!

The sofa is in the basement. Really. Yes, That Sofa -- the one that was standing on end in my dining room last November. The one that [livejournal.com profile] fringefaan and I demonstrated would not squeeze into the flamingo loft...and nearly did ourselves in with the trying.

And it's all thanks to [livejournal.com profile] geraty. And [livejournal.com profile] elaine_brennan, who told me he's especially good with spatial relationships and also helped with the moving. The cushions may be down-filled (with innersprings, too), but That Sofa is Not A Featherweight. Nowhere near.

We didn't even have to haul out the chain saws. (A good thing, really. I don't have any chain saws.)

More Furniture Mayhem lasted all afternoon and well into the night. There's not enough other space here in the Zeppelin Hanger to do the HGTV trick of moving all of the furniture out of a room and then rearranging it by bringing pieces back in one at a time, but except for that minor detail, Elaine and I could easily have been filming an episode of Freestyle Tuesday. The TV stand now supports two printers in my office. A printer stand from my office now supports the TV while also holding the cable box, VHS recorder, DVD player, receiver, CD player, and cassette deck. The pass through connector and extra 25 feet of coax enabled us to reposition the TV, though not to the far end of the room as I planned. Elaine and [livejournal.com profile] geraty came up with a better plan. The TV is now on the same wall as the fireplace.

Etc. Etc. There's lots of positioning still to be done, including emptying, moving, then refilling the largest bookcase. And more dusting, sweeping, and Swiffer WetJet mopping, even though we've already done a lot of that.

The biggest surprise of the day? I put 17,000+ steps on the pedometer. Well over 10,000 of those steps came from moving furniture (and moving stuff out of the way before moving furniture, then trying furniture in a different location, then moving it back. And so on.)

My sense is that Geri's preference was for the sofa to go to the basement. Therefore, once we'd actually accomplished that goal, consideration of the flamingo loft was no longer necessary (at least for the moment).

Meanwhile, there are still things to push around and consider in the living room ... who knows what we'll decide to do tomorrow!
