Topics awaiting my attention:

1) Somebody Else's Kitchen -- Muffin tins, frosting, and more

2) ) Rhinebeck/Knitting Anniversary -- anticipation and/or reality (depending on whether I get to it before or after Saturday)

3) Dinner reservations this Saturday! How closely will the menu offered match the menu on line? If I start counting on there being Roasted Corn Spoon Bread, what are the odds they'll not be serving it that night?

4) SFFY update. As in Science-Fiction Five-Yearly. Much progress and big fun.

5) Dietary musings. Doing much wrong, but something right.

And more, as usual. But right now, I'm off! (And I'm going to go anyway....)

So, who else has noticed that scientists have announced both teleportation and an invisibility cloak within the last week or so? I love living in the future!

Does SF5Y always have the same set of authors, or is fresh blood brought in?

It's a mix -- this time around we have several returning writers and artists and several new writers and artists. Please email more specific questions on this. If you have them, that is. :-)

(Address in my profile, if you don't already have it elsewhere.)

I heard from an IBM rep a long time ago (When we were going to buy workstations...so around 1992...no... it was later...) that IBM had succeeded in "teleporting" a tiny bit of matter... and reconstructing it almost right next to where it had been... in effect, a Star Trek transporter thingie.

So, go Science, Go Science! It's your birthday!

Wool and dinner at the CIA

I wish I were going to Rhinebeck, but it's just as well not. I am so broke I'd better start spinning the wool I've got, or at least knit something from that yard from WEBS. I was saved from spending money on yarn next door while looking for lunchtime recreation, because the owners of the gourmet shop at the front of the building were ranting to the yarn ladies about how unhelpful Fedex was, with their overdue cappucino machine wandering around somewhere in a truck, but not the truck they managed to catch "I only do pickups."

I hope I'm still on the distribution list. Do you need my new address?

First of all, I'd love to hear more about teleportation and the invisibility cloak -- just not right now, as I'm a bit behind here at work due to reading a bit too much wikipedia while allegedly on the job. You need to know, though: I believe the copy of *Antarctica* by Kim Stanley Robinson on my bookshelves is actually yours, and I need to return it to you at some convenient point. No, I haven't finished it yet.
