And the winner is...
Dec. 12th, 2003 08:15 am...holyoutlaw!
It's a good thing we weren't playing "The Price is Right," since the final bag count of paper removed from Toad Hall's back attic in time for this morning's recycling pickup was 19, a full six bags under holyoutlaw's guess of 25. I only weighed one of the bags; it tipped the scale at 21.5 pounds and was about as hefty as the rest. Figuring an average of 20 pounds/bag, I've just saved myself $300-400. Plus there's another 50-100 pounds of stuff that doesn't fit the city's regulations, that I hope to reuse/recycle by sending it off to a good home for free. Or even a not-so-good home; I'm not that level of picky right now. On this stuff, at least.
The prize isn't 10 bags of recyclables; if I had 'em, I'd set them out for pickup. How does a genuine vintage butcher's block sound? Limited time offer; delivery not included. It's actually a funky-keen thing. They tend to go for real money on eBay and elsewhere on line. They also weigh a bloody ton, or so it seems. I'm glad this one is round -- the way to move it is to tip it on its side (that's exciting all by itself), then roll it. Can't do that with a square block.
You're welcome to come to Minneapolis and pick it up. (This I've gotta see.) Time it right and you can stay for the House Cooling, too. Or you're welcome to find someone else who wants it and let me know the arrangements. If I end up handling money or providing other coordination activities, I'll split the proceeds with you. If another LiveJournal member facilitates the sale, we'll split the take three ways...or however many ways it needs splitting if others help sell the butcher block table by Christmas. Again, recipient much roll it away from here. I can help with the tipping onto its side, and even provide some chipboard sheets to prop against the stairs for easier rolling.
It's a tad big for a stocking stuffer. Let me know if you want me to take pictures and email them to you....
Heckuvadeal Bonus Round:
If you'd rather have two waxers and a copious quantities of wax, just send me your current street/shipping address that FedEx will deliver to.
