Somewhere over the years, I must have grown comfortable with plans changing rather a lot, at least some of the time.

This afternoon, my plan was to drop some vinyl erasers off at Joe and Edie's on my way back home to Toad Woods. I've been down in New York for last night's Whisperado CD release party and further adventures in chocolate. But my Mom went into the hospital on Monday, and I came down prepared to drive to Michigan, depending on how things are going there.

As of the last report, the Mom news is mixed, and I may still be driving to Michigan at a moment's notice, but that moment hasn't happened yet. So, there I was, driving to Joe and Edie's. First, the road was blocked. Lots and lots of emergency vehicles, with no clear indication of what was going on. Shortly after I took a hint from all of the other cars and trucks on the road and turned around, Joe called. He was heading into Manhattan and ran into the same blocked road from the other direction. We shared alternate route plans and I continued on.

About 10 minutes later, Edie called. She'd heard from Joe that I was going to be stopping by the house and was calling to invite me to stay over tonight. I could tell them about the CD release party, spend some more time with Baskerville, and just hang out. Sounded good to me. Especially since the now-elderly Baskerville is showing clear signs of being on her last legs. Time with this dog is always a treasure; time with her right now may well be the last there is for me to have.

Okay, to the house. And to another change in plans. My key works in the usual locks as always, but I may have accidentally locked the bottom knob on the kitchen door when I left Wednesday morning, 'cause it's locked now. Hmmm.

Time for a new plan. Edie had told me about Flying Fingers yarn shop in Irvington. Thanks to the wireless, I can get online even if I can't get indoors. So I found the website, address, and direction, and am about to head down there until Joe and/or Edie get home. Gosh, that sounds like such a hardship....

So, yeah, the so far this week, I've been going to New York, maybe to Michigan, to the Whisperado gig unless I had to head to Michigan, back home today, no, never mind, stay at Joe & Edie's, oops, make that go to Irvington and then to Joe & Edie's in a couple more hours....

And, y'know, I've been fine with it every step of the way. Well, except for the many steps in Manhattan yesterday that reminded me my shoes really are worn out and that I need to start wearing the pair that's in better condition.

More Whisperado and chocolate report to follow. After I see what Flying Fingers has to offer....

Sounds wonderful, albeit confusing and chaotic. Maybe you don't want all that chaos and change in plans in a short period of time, but if you've gotta have it, try to enjoy it. You'll probably have a comparably "down" week in a few weeks and it will all average out.

I hope the mom news is good.

And on a tangential note, I still haven't heard anything from Joe and/or Edie.

Hmmm. Joe sent email your way on Sunday. I'll let him know you didn't receive it.

I've got a special place in my heart for dogs. They're all special even if I can't have one now (Margene took allergy shots, the cat fraction worked, the dog didn't, and she's hivey, wheezing mess with more than an hour's exposure to ANY dog where I'm not allergic unless they have a double coat...)

Best wishes for your mom and Baskerville.

Joe resent the mail Saturday night and copied me on it. I've confirmed that I gave him the correct address typo-free. Did you receive the resent message from Joe?

I did. But it came to an email address I don't check very often; the netcom address is better.
