Mark your calendars....

The Toad Hall House Cooling Party is tentatively scheduled for Saturday, December 27, 2003.

Tuesday night, Realtor Bob picked me up at the airport, took me home to Toad Hall, and answered my every question as we made our way through page after page of a Purchase Agreement I wanted to accept from a buyer.

The inspections were today. A couple things (well, three, actually) turned up, but none appear to be showstoppers. Closing is set for Tuesday, December 30th. I'm currently at SMOFcon. When I get home, I will have roughly three weeks to pack up or dispose of 20 years of accumulated stuff, plus the belongings I moved in with. And find the mover I want to use. And try to determine the availability and cost of health insurance in Massachusetts and Connecticut.

And. And. And. Color me shell-shocked, it a happy, relieved tone.

Jack's on his way to the hotel with the cheesecakes I bought a few weeks ago. We're going to have dinner; I'm on programming tomorrow, and have other things to accomplish here as well. Then it's back to Minneapolis, and the utterly thrilling, exhausting chaos that awaits me there.

House cooling party confirmation and details to be posted when I know them.

Wow. This is big. Big happy to be going, big sad to be leaving, big need to take things a step or two at a time, get to point X, and take if from there.

I am pleased for you and hope all goes well with the closing. Along with many others I am sad to think of Toad Hall going, it was the inspiration for the bhigg House. But I know that Toad Hall will always exist wherever you are for you are its heart and its spirit. Big hugs.

Wow! Good luck with the move. We had three weeks to move (from putting the house on the market to physically getting everything out) to MD when we got back from NolaCon years ago. Not fun. Moving companies will do all the backing for you, depending on the price, but you have to be careful and read the agreement.

I'm going east, with the intention of buying a home along the MA/CT border, most likely in MA. There will be an interim period between houses -- a few months, most likely. I'm ever so thankful to Joe Siclari & Edie Stern, who are providing a "home base" during that time. I'll be traveling frequently from their home in Yorktown Heights, NY, for househunting forays, and to stay with friends in Boston. I may also spend some time in Toronto as I have a new client there and in-person time on the project could well be a good thing.

(Please tell me you were in that hotel driveway before 9pm Thursday night rather than after 9pm, which is about when I arrived.)

(I am pleased to report I was in the driveway before 9 PM. I am dismayed to report I was also in the driveway after 9 PM. Argh!)
