Plow Guy is here making his second pass. There's an official Plow Mountain out front. At least it's not a Plow Mountain Range. Not yet, anyway.

Guess I'll find out what my snow blower is up handling soon. The "wait until it melts" strategy that worked so well a month ago doesn't appear to be an option this time. Not if I want to get to Worcester and Cambridge tomorrow, which I do.

Onward.

Wow. You have had SO much more snow this year than we have. How many Official Inches so far in your area?

It hasn't seemed all that snowy to me. Accuweather (which is actually recording Worcester and usually under-reporting Wales -- or at least Toad Woods) sez we had a trace in November, 11.9" in December, 9" in January, and 9.6" so far this month. That comes to 30.5" to date.

Same source for Minneapolis? Trace in October; 1.1" November; 15.9" December; 22.7" January; and 0.1" today. Total to date: 39.8".

So not only have you been freezing your patootie off, you've had 30% more snow than we have. If one is trusting Accuweather, that is.

Ah. I looked up Boston. They're at 44.8" so far this year. I must thank the weather tracks. Usually, as the saying goes, "greater accumulations are expected north and west of 495." I'm in that west lump, though further enough inland that I get off easy sometimes. Rather a lot this year.

According to Current Results, Boston's average annual snowfall is 43.8" and MippleCity's is 54.0". We can both be glad we don't live in Buffalo with its 94.7" average, or Cleveland, with 68.1". Of course, there are other reasons to be grateful we don't live in Buffalo or Cleveland....

P.S.

The NOAA data matches Accuweather for Boston snowfall since December 1.

Worcester has much higher numbers than Wales on Accuweather, so they've apparently changed where they're getting the Wales numbers from. Interesting. The closer I look at this, the more I see just how easy I'm getting off this winter. Knocking wood now.
