Sweet!

Another Toad Woods mystery solved. Just up from the main walking path into the woods (which isn't much of a path, mind you, especially this time of year) there's a broad swath of what were clearly berry canes. They didn't look like raspberries to me, but last summer was rather busy and I never actually saw them bear fruit.

They're blackberries. And they're just coming into season. Yum. They look easy to freeze, too. But I expect I'll like them best freshly picked and popped directly into my mouth.

Um-mm, blackberry cobbler! It sounds like a nicely laze fair garden/pond woods. I bet you'll be exploring it for some time to come.

Yep: blackberries do freeze well -- just pop them into the freezer. You can eat the frzen berries as 'ice fruit' -- or when they thaw, they are ready pulped: can be cooked up, or just mixed into yoghurt, cream, etc.
