Lake Cheese. The next foodie trend?

As [livejournal.com profile] filkerdave wrote, "It's cheese, Gromit, but not as we know it."

Posted here because [livejournal.com profile] buttonlass needs to know about it if she doesn't already, and several other LJ friends who may not read Dave's post are also likely to be interested and amused. Including you, [livejournal.com profile] lsanderson. And you, [livejournal.com profile] tammylc. And the [livejournal.com profile] minnehahas, too.

Wonder why they wouldn't mark 1700 pounds of cheese with a buoy or radio transmitter or somesuch thing if they planned to retrieve it. Maybe the fish ate it.

I'd flag that as ignorance - 'It's not a big lake. It's 3/4 of a ton of cheese. It'll be easy to find!'

To quote from an obscure underground comic:
"Eating this stuff turns your brain into cottage cheese. We call this guy Large Curd."

This has got to be a hoax.

Or it could be a novel: The Heterodyne Boys and the Quest for the Lost Cheese of Baie des Ha! Ha!
