Arisia actually does many things well, but today I'm reminded of what an easy joy it is to register for the convention online. I logged into my existing Arisia account, last used a couple of years ago, clicked on the membership I wanted, paid for and confirmed the purchase. Hey, done. Better yet, email arrived immediately confirming my purchase and also telling me how to sign up for the news updates from the convention. That included the reassuring note, "You won't get signed up twice if we already have your email on the list."

It's all clean and clear. Way to go, Arisia!

Arisia also has a talent for picking interesting Artist GoHs. Glass artist Josh Simpson two years ago, and, hey, Roger Dean this coming January. How much of Arisia I'm at will depend on my work schedule then, but I'm determined to see what I have of Roger's work and program items.

we'll be up for Arisia... want to do a meal together, your work permitting?

Yes. Let's! It's been on our list for years running, ever since I bailed on dinner during a snowstorm back at the Aztec Hyatt.

Roger Dean is definitely spacey. :-)

I definitely approve of the Roger Dean pick. I wonder if he's done other SF conventions.

There's a reason that Arisia and WisCon are the two cons I regularly sign up for programming for; they both have nice online tools for looking through the panel suggestions and saying which ones I want to be on (and why).

I don't go to as many cons as I used to and am going through a phase of more outdoorsy travel, but when I was going to cons regularly the Boston cons were always high on the list of cons I wanted to go to. The cons sound like fun and the city is worth staying longer.

If you decide you want to do some outdoorsy travel in the New England area, you're welcome to use Toad Woods as a home base. Endorsed by a thru-hiker on the Appalachian Trail and everything!

Yes, seeing you at Boston-area conventions I get to would certainly be a delight, so maybe if that rolls back around on the gi-tar, eh?

Any chance you'll be at Corflu come the beginning of May? It's in your fair city, and I've booked my flights. It's my first trip to the West Coast since...er...in a long, long time. The last time I remember being in Portland was 7 years ago! I can hardly fathom it's been that long, but maybe....

I'm planning to, even though I've been a bit out of the fanzine loop for a while. It would be great to see you there and I suspect there will be several other familiar faces to boot.
