In a good way.

Why? I can sum it right up for you.

Argo aka Zelazny's Lord of Light

le-trombone explains it well.

It's my new bell jar standard for "when weirds collide." It looks like the threads of this story go all over the place, weaving deeper and deeper and deeper every step of the way.

I'm helping fund the Kickstarter (every so modestly so). I want to see this documentary! And the SCIENCE FICTION LAND kipple looks pretty cool, too.

I pledged to fund the documentary as well. My hope is that I'll be able to screen it at a future Minicon, but we'll see. One step at a time.; it's still less than half way to its goal of $50K.

I would just be happy if someone made Lord of Light into a movie though, considering how long it has been since I read it, I wonder how well it has aged.

The concept and basic story is still good. The handling of female characters is problematic. Zelazny's literary models were Hemingway and Faulkner, so it's not like he had a good basis for depictions of women (no matter how good the writing was), and the character description of Brahma (who started life as a woman) is laughable by twenty-first century standards.

On the other hand, it's not like most of that can't be fixed in a movie script.
