It's the one-year anniversary of Daddy's death.

My niece Sara said it well in email to my sister Sue and me, sent scant minutes before midnight:

"As August 27th arrives, just wanted to say 'I remember.' Am thinking of both of you and remembering grandpa, his life, his impact, his wit and humor and his amazing ability to love." 

And I responded:

"My mind's eye sees the twinkle in his. I hear his laugh. I hope to carry it with my through this long day, and for the rest of my life."
