The winter before I moved into the cabin in the mountains in the woods at 9005' in the Colorado Rockies, the residents there in at least two counties got to enjoy(?) a snowfall overnight of 8-9 FEET of snow, snow up to the EAVES of many cabin homes. Naturally, neighborhoods had to band together to purchase collectively back-hoes to dig them out. My final winter there, my little cul-de-cas had to do the same (renting the services of someone with a back-how) though the snowfall was far less impressive, only 4-5 feet of the some of the most beautiful water crystals I'd ever seen, and the forest that early spring bloomed like a garden. It was neat!
