Silverfish Hand Catch!
The Old Spice Guy says farewell.
Heck, I only knew about the ads, which I adore. The 200+ personalized social media videos are new to my eyes. OMG, they're great! And lest I give too much credit to brilliant copywriting, the pertinent Wikipedia article credits Isaiah with ad-libbing them in character.. Yowser.
My faves so far -- Old Spice Guy responds to:
-- Justine Bateman
-- WSpencer
-- Demi Moore
-- JessicaRMurray
-- Isaiahmustafa
-- Thanks to knitmeapony, everything we need for our very own Old Spice Guy voice mail message.
And here's the Old Spice YouTube channel, where it's easy to scroll through them all.
And, for those to whom this entire post is bewildering as well as those who already adore Isaiah Mustafa, the copywriters, the camera crew, and all the creative folks behind his ads for Old Spice, here are all four of the videos.
And here's the one most of us saw first.
I do hope the farewell is to the social media videos only, and that the commercials continue.
Many thanks to Xeni Jardin and BoingBoing for the Goodbye Old Spice Guy post that sent me looking for the rest.

And here's the "making of" in case you haven't seen it:

As you've perhaps seen, I took your Hayley Mustafa link up to its own post so more people would see it -- it's fab!
I saw the "making of" interview back when the SuperBowl ad came out. (I'd forgotten that it was a SuperBowl ad. That's brilliant, too.) But it was a delight to watch it again.
Now I want a "making of" interview about the two days spent creating and filming the Twitter responses.
That ad agency and Old Spice deserve a bucketful of awards. I hope the ads have enough impact on sales to be distinctly noticeable. They do seem to be doing an excellent job of locking the creative brilliance with the brand name. They're not "the chicken commercials" or "the squirrel commercials" where the advertiser is soon forgotten. He's the Old Spice Guy.
