...including on Mount Washington!

From email I just read:

"Things are really heating up on Mount Washington—and I’m not just talking about the weather! While it has been unseasonably warm and muggy for the last week or so (including a new record high of 69 degrees on the 8th)..."

July 8th. Record high: 69 degrees.

Why is it I'm hoping to head 140 miles south rather than 225 miles north this weekend? We're just starting another heatwave. Mount Washington sounds like just the place to be.

"Unseasonably warm..."

"New record high of 69..."

Bliss.

Quite a few years ago I took the train to the top of Mount Washington. I don't think the temperature was quite in the sixties, but someone had apparently climbed the mountain in a bikini.

Oh, sure, 69º sounds lovely. (I'd take it in a heartbeat; however, I know from personal experience it takes my body four hours to get from Pinkham Notch to the summit.) But then the weather up there can change at a moment's notice! And then there's the matter of the occasional um, breeze.

Exactly what I was thinking... you could cook eggs at that temp.
