Kudos for ConQuesT

I'm having a lovely time at ConQuesT despite the fact that I seem to now be allergic to every state except Massachusetts. I drove across the border into Connecticut on Wednesday and started sneezing. That followed me into New York, through Chicago, and all the way to Kansas City.

That hasn't stopped me from enjoying KC BBQ for dinner, lunch, and dinner. Yum. It hasn't stopped me from enjoying the convention, either. ConQuesT is full of friendly fans who are very approachable and easy to talk to. Some might think that had to do with the fact that I greeted people leaving opening ceremonies by saying, "Hi, I brought money to give away. Would you like some?"

But it's no different when I'm not handing out coins scooped up from my Time Travelers International Money Dish before I left home. It's good to see friends, to meet new ones, to lend a helping hand, and to just plain relax and enjoy myself.

I'm off to the George and Howard Power Hour now. George RR Martin and Howard Waldrop. Oh, my. No questions. Gotta see that.

Congratulations on the con enjoyment!

(You passed through Chicago, and didn't get in touch with us again? *Siiiiiiighhh*)

The 3.5 hour layover at O'Hare became a dash from Gate C21 to B9, or something like that. There wasn't time to use the restroom. There wasn't time to do anything other than speed walk and jog our way to the gate, get on the plane, and buckle in. The only call I had time to make was to let my liaison here in Kansas City know we'd made our original flight.

United certainly didn't expect us to. Phone messages I finally had time to pick up in Kansas City told me repeatedly we were rebooked on the 8pm flight. The bag we checked at LaGuardia arrived at the hotel at 3:45 am Friday.

We supposedly have 1.75 hours at O'Hare on Monday. If we end up with anything like that, I'll try to give you a call just to say "hi". Well, "hi" and "I miss miss miss miss miss you!"

Pay no attention to my whining, my dear; no need to explain the vagaries of modern fixed-wing transport. Continue enjoying the con!

It was great at my last Boskone when I sat down and joined a conversation with Paul King about driving between Texas and Wyoming and drive-in theaters and eateries. It took a while, but I eventually deduced that Howard Waldrop was the guy Paul was talking to. I loved it. It was an area I was fairly well acquainted with, and I could contribute a bit, but Howard knew it all in detail in just the right way.

Hm. Was that the last really good conversation I had, apart from phone calls?

Well, it couldn't be, because you came through here after that. I had misplaced it in time because Paul King came through here a bit later and confusicated me.
