In my copious free time...

Larry Sanderson warned me it's a cookbook, but I'm here anyway. In between painting, packing, decluttering, and cleaning anyway.

Toad Hall goes on the market a week from tomorrow. The place is utter chaos, except for the dining room. The dining room is ready.

Underneath the chaos, the house is looking better than it has in years. That's the nature of selling, so I guess I'm on the right track.

When it sells, I'm heading east. To the woods, somewhere along the Massachusetts/Connecticut border. That's the plan, anyway. I'm early enough in the process that I'm still enjoying it, albeit a little less than I was a couple of weeks ago when I had the illusion of having more time.

Onward!

To live? I thought you wanted to get away from harsh winters...

Yes, I did. I'm not succeeding at that with this move. I am trading up for a different kind of winter -- 10-15 degrees warmer, more sloppy freeze-thaw cycles.

I want to experience living in the woods; I don't know how long I'll want to continue doing it. I'm thinking of this as a 5-10 year move, rather than a "rest of my life" move, hence the willingness to cope with a different form of winter (one I'm familiar with from growing up in southern Michigan) in exchange for the advantages of the eastern woods (perceived business opportunities, overall closeness to major metro areas, particularly good friends).

It's nice to see you here, since I made such a complete hash of living three blocks away from you all these years. Strange are the ways of the hermits. Best of luck with the house.

Back from brunch, another welcome from me. I do hope that you'll be back for Minicon. -Matthew

I'm guessing that the reference to "I" rather than "we" Means Something. But you will doubtless correct this in due course.

In the meantime: hello!

Oops. We've been out of touch of late, haven't we?

Jeff and I broke up about 2.5 years ago. We're on very good terms with each other, and both pleased about that, I think. He bought his own place in the summer of 2001.

[livejournal.com profile] headgardener advised me subsequently that she'd read of the break-up in The Secret Garden and had been assuming that I knew of it too. Heigh-ho....

Hi! It's nice to see you here on LJ; and hey: this thing works even if you're living across the country.

Welcome, and I hope I'll see a bit more of you when you're closer (assuming that life doesn't take me to some other part of the planet).

And more with the welcoming!

You'll be closer to us as well. Lovely to see you here. I was thinking about you only a couple of days ago.

It isn't a cookbook either.

Well grease me up and use a spoon! I didn't expect to see you here Geri. Welcome to the ranarium. As you can see a lot of fannish folk have turned up here already and it's getting to be some party.

[identity profile] replyhazy.livejournal.com 2003-10-13 02:59 pm (UTC)(link)
Fancy meeting you here! Such a crush. Happy moving, if there is such a thing. Will it be Toad Hall II, or a different amphibian altogether?

[identity profile] elisem.livejournal.com 2003-11-05 03:11 pm (UTC)(link)
Whoa! Hi, Geri. Belated welcomes, and everything, from a spacey Lioness.
