I love my car

The other 90% is packed, plus there are five (count 'em, 5) things I was sure weren't going to fit and so wasn't going to take them. One of those things is a wooden, saddle seat bar stool.

Really. I love my car.*

I even remembered to pull the travel directions out of the glove box since the presence of the stool blocks access to it.

[livejournal.com profile] fringefaan, it's a good thing you're already there.

I'm down to the computer, purse, box with styrofoam cooler and 15# of chocolate, and cold Diet Coke for the road. I even know where most of those things are going.

Anticipation, I'm heading your way!

*2003 Toyota Matrix. Holds more than any small car I've even been in or packed.

Yay!

Hope you had an easy trip up, despite the amount of stuff in your van.

In my van?

It only packs like it's a van. :-)

At the border: "Why do you have so much stuff in your car?"

A minute or maybe two of conversation, telling the customs officer what I had and why, followed by the proper responses to her questions regarding the dates of the convention and where it was being held, and she waved me on through with wishes for a good stay.

No alcohol question, no firearms/weapons question. She just wanted my statement that aside from the homebaked cookies, chocolates, and other consumables, all that stuff in my car will be leaving Canada rather than staying here.

I've had my 2-piece folding table for 33-35 years now and it's still an utterly fabulous piece of gear. Every customs officer in the world could safely bet it's going home with me. :-)
