Arisia actually does many things well, but today I'm reminded of what an easy joy it is to register for the convention online. I logged into my existing Arisia account, last used a couple of years ago, clicked on the membership I wanted, paid for and confirmed the purchase. Hey, done. Better yet, email arrived immediately confirming my purchase and also telling me how to sign up for the news updates from the convention. That included the reassuring note, "You won't get signed up twice if we already have your email on the list."

It's all clean and clear. Way to go, Arisia!

Arisia also has a talent for picking interesting Artist GoHs. Glass artist Josh Simpson two years ago, and, hey, Roger Dean this coming January. How much of Arisia I'm at will depend on my work schedule then, but I'm determined to see what I have of Roger's work and program items.

Or thereabouts. I confess I'm keeping them safe in their containers and haven't counted each one individually. Plus, there's still room for 1 driver, up to 4 sailors, and several bags of luggage. Well, the luggage space depends on finding a place other than the Cardis for the the largest of the wood tool chests that followed me home from Michigan. In addition to the "where" question, that trick also requires removing most of the tools inside as it's currently too heavy to lift.

While this remarkable, fishy feat may come as no surprise to those who have seen or heard about the Cardis in action over the years, I do feel it only fair to observe that some of the Goldfish are whole grain, while the rest are xtra cheddar. It's only two cartons worth; they hardly take up any room at all.

Killed it, too, which I'm utterly fine with as they are cats and it was indoors. 'Cause even though shrews apparently kill mice, Tillie and Jinx have been doing a fine job on that front.

For the record, Jinx makes a totally different "Lookit! Lookit! I am mighty! I killed a shrew!" sound from Tillie's "Lookit! Lookit! I am mighty! I killed a mouse!" proclamation. Jinx sounds somewhat distressed. Tillie is just proud, proud, proud. (And utterly adorable when she does it while parading around with one of her catnip mousie toys, which is pretty much the norm ever since they did in the mouse population in the months after they moved in.)

The hunt itself is conducted silently, as far as I can tell. They only tell me after they're done with it. This is the first time that Jinx made the announcement, so maybe she was the victor as well.
