Happy, Happy Birthday...
May. 23rd, 2010 05:33 pm...to Daniel Squier Fitzgerald.
Yes, Daddy turned 87 years old today! He celebrated by replacing most of the parts in the downstairs toilet, the one he put in new about 30 years ago or so. He had to replace some bolts that had rusted out as well as the usual bits. It's a very Daddy-sort of way to spend a birthday. If I make it to 87 myself, I hope to be as able as he still is. Okay, I need to qualify that. I've never been as able as he is when it comes to mechanics, home repairs, and related topics; there's no reason to think I ever will be. So I hope I remain as able...in my own areas of expertise.
As it turns out, my sister celebrated her 60th birthday last month by replacing the garbage disposal in her kitchen sink.
I'll be knocking wood for the next 8.5 weeks, all in the hope that I don't turn birthday repairs into a Fitzgerald family tradition once my own rolls around.
