Sep. 2nd, 2009 06:49 pmDeep Fried Butter may be among the new offerings at the Texas State Fair when it opens later this month. Personally, I'd vote for the Sweet Jalapeno Corn Dog Shrimp. It comes on a stick. So does "Twisted Yam on a Stick."
But that's Texas. Their State Fair doesn't even open until September 25th. I need Genuine Minnesota State Fair news and reports now. So far, I've seen two fun but friends-locked reports from the Fair. More please, and open ones, too, please. Our very own 2000 TAFF-on-a-stick GOH is on her way to London to spend her hour on the Fourth Plinth. She's on Thursday from 1-2pm BST, which apparently translates to 8-9am EDT. Yikes. I *will* get up to watch you live, dear -- considering what we did to you at the Minnesota State Fair, it's only fitting. But, still, yikes. Me? Awake? In the morning?
Everyone reading this who's not appearing on the Fourth Plinth in another 12 hours or so? Please get thyself to the Minnesota State Fair and report back here pronto! Does Gedney still give away pickle hats? How's the Fine Art Exhibition this year?
Best new bumper sticker: "I enjoy seed art and I vote." Yes, I'm thoroughly amused by the online coverage of the Michele Bachmann seed art, but I want to see friends' pictures of it, too. There are many better photographers here.
How much is the all-you-can-drink milk truck this year? When I first started going to the Fair, it was a quarter. What cheesy products are the hucksters selling? Are there any good quality replacement windows to be had? Tell me more about what the 4-H kids are up to -- do they still have that fake giant spider that drops down and causes the city slickers to shriek?
And what's new? Not just the new food-on-a-stick, the new everything....

Yeah, me, I've got this doctor's appointment. But I don't have to leave for Worcester until 90 minutes after Sue comes down from the Plinth, and that's good enough for me.
