Since I last posted, the SFFY Ultraman Hugo has posed for the cameras in [livejournal.com profile] benveniste's photo studio in Middleton, spent an evening at the NESFA clubhouse making the acquaintance of Mr. G and the various fans gathered there, and is just back from his first local TV appearance where he was the star of tonight's episode The Upside Down Show. It was community access cable TV, viewable only to people in Wales and Brimfield, which kept it low-key and easy.

David Worth, host of The Upside Down Show came up with his own science fiction story starring the Ultraman Hugo. He imagined me caressing Ultraman, holding the trophy in my arms. "All of a sudden, you felt it move. Of course, you put it right down, and it was solid." But in David's story, I picked it up again, and Ultraman's eyes opened. It turned out that Ultraman was actually a robot, activated by the heat of human touch. The Ultraman Mystique continues....

The Upside Down Show is repeated several times. In fact, it was repeated right away tonight, and was on when I returned home. I'm watching it as I type, and am utterly relieved. I did okay, and don't even look or sound all that bad, either.

Back in third grade, I heard my voice on a tape recorder for the first time, and didn't allow myself to be recorded for years after, utterly horrified by how awful my voice sounded. This was my first television appearance, at least the first in which I was interviewed. The show lasted an hour, but the time went by quickly. I took several fanzines along -- issues of Science-Fiction Five-Yearly, of course, but also copies of Idea, [livejournal.com profile] smofbabe's DUFF report, the N4 Souvenir Book, gave the efanzines url, mentioned Boskone while the camera showed one of the flyers [livejournal.com profile] debgeisler and I made for that. And so on. Dave also asked me about PROmote Communications, so I had the opportunity to publicize my business a bit, too. Win-win.

On Saturday, I'm off to the New York State Sheep and Wool Festival for my 2nd Yarnniversary. Ultraman is glad to be staying home; he doesn't want any sheep stories on his resume....
